**Information Scientist**

**POSITION PURPOSE**:
Enable and contribute to the identification, generation and protection of Bayer’s Intellectual Property, the defense of IP and products in litigations, the definition and implementation of IP strategies, an effective IP Portfolio Management and IP data management by retrieval, analysis and interpretation of scientific literature and IP information and related services.

Enable and support data driven decision making by the analysis of competitor information.

**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILTIES**:

- Professional information retrieval and analysis to ensure that patent attorneys, R&D scientists, business managers can take strategic advantage from Science, IP and competitor information covering use cases of limited complexity with business relevance:

- Freedom to operate analysis, assessing prior art, white spot analysis
- IP Landscaping: delivering and visualizing patent portfolios
- Clarifying scientific questions
- Support public literature workflow for re-registrations
- Analyzing competitor pipelines
- Partner with Senior Principal Information Scientist for the development and implementation of Science, IP and Competitor Intelligence processes and solutions in alignment with interfacing partners supporting CS:

- Monitor potential solutions and map to CS needs
- Develop and manage solutions e.g. patent push, text mining, thesauri
- Adding CS specific information to externally sourced information
- Support Science, IP and Competitor Intelligence processes and solutions.
- Contribute to Bayer’s Scientific Information Management community to ensure best practice exchange, especially with peers from Pharma Scientific & Competitive Intelligence

**WHO YOU ARE**:

- PhD with minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
- MS with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- BS with minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
- Diploma / Master or PHD in a Life Science or information management field or equivalent long-term experiences.
- Basic skills in Information management
- Basic understanding of IP protection / policies or competitor information analysis
- Good communication, collaboration, and networking skills
