**Job Summary**:
We are seeking a skilled and responsible **Biomedical Equipment Technician** to support the safe and effective operation of medical equipment at our Eye Hospital. The BMET is a **professional who specializes in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of medical equipment—specifically eye-related instruments and devices**. This role ensures the optimal functioning and compliance of all ophthalmic equipment used in patient diagnosis, treatment, and surgery.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Install, inspect, test, calibrate, and repair biomedical and ophthalmic equipment (e.g., phaco machines, slit lamps, autorefractors, OCTs, lasers, etc.).
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) as per manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment performance, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all equipment meets safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for major repairs or annual maintenance contracts (AMC/CMC).
- Provide technical assistance to clinical staff for proper usage and care of medical equipment.
- Monitor inventory and request parts/supplies as needed.
- Assist in equipment planning and procurement by providing technical input.
- Support quality assurance processes and participate in audits and inspections.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- Diploma / Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in hospital equipment maintenance (preferably in ophthalmic settings).
- Hands-on experience with common ophthalmology equipment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards related to medical devices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and handle emergencies on-call.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Experience with phaco machines
- Familiarity with hospital electrical systems and IT-integrated devices.
- Certification in biomedical equipment management is a plus.
