DB2 DBA Administrator

Physical DB2 DBA JD:
General:
This role is performed by technical professionals responsible for the physical and technical aspects of a database systems. Responsibilities for this job role include, but are not limited to, installation and maintenance of the databases, DB2 upgrades and patches checkouts, performance and capacity monitoring & management, and security compliance. Potential interaction with clients (internal or external) in order to understand and meet requirements for the delivery of services related to database products.

Monitory DB2 Dialogue/Instant notification logs

1. Monitoring of Transactio logs

2. Monitoring Archive log destinations

3. Monitoring of Life systems owned by DB2 database

4. Monitoring Tablespace

5. Starting up Instance

6. Shutting down Instance

7. Activate/Deactivate

8. Quiesce/Unquiesce

9. Running scripts to prepare capacity planning reports.

Level3

House keeping and Maintenance of files owned by DB2 Database

1. Creating tablespace - System and Database managed

2. Altering Tablespace

3. Reorganizing tables and Indexes

4. Recover Database

5. Binding of packages to DB2 databases

6. Ondemand backup of Database

7. Runstats of tablspace and Index

8. Creation of new DB2 objects

Level 4

Tablespace Migration

1. RCA for recurring issues

2. Tuning of Databases and DB parameters

3. Tuning of Memory parameters, Buffer pool and registry variables.

4. Taking snapshot of database

5. Participate in DR test

6. Synchronize primary and HADR databases

7. Gather periodic database statisctics
