**Position Overview**:
Advises and counsels business leaders and employees on all legal matters. Provides legal advice, guidance and support concerning business transactions, claim liability, legal rights and obligations, and advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits. Studies and reviews proposed legislation and provides legal opinions and advice to relevant decision-makers on pertinent issues. Interprets laws, rulings and regulations for business impact. Represents the company in legal actions.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Serves as primary counsel or compliance administrator for assigned departments or functions or within a defined area of law
- Provides legal advice and counsel to management and employees on a range of corporate and business issues
- Partners with clients to clarify business and legal risks and exposures, providing creative and legally sound solutions for risk mitigation
- Engages with business leaders to understand direction, changes and objectives; provides advice on potential legal issues or challenges
- Works closely with other legal departments and with outside counsel to coordinate activities and ensure agreement on advice and handling of legal matters
- Presents training to internal clients on all relevant topics
- Collaborates across the company, with Finance, Sales, Operations, Product, Marketing / Advertising and others, to ensure that product offerings, business dealings and agreements are legally compliant and protective of the company’s interests

**Required Qualifications**:

- Data protection professional with 3-5 years of experience in global privacy law at an international law firm or global company
- Must speak fluent English
- Experience advising companies on data protection programs
- Experience negotiating data agreements
- Excellent legal technical skills in GDPR and privacy laws governing APAC
- Experience supporting the privacy aspects of IT and IS driven projects, including understanding system interfaces, data location and data flows and their importance from a contract and global compliance position the service provider/customer
