
Nurse in Charge for Cario Thoacic Intensive Care Unit

A Charge Nurse in a **Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU)** plays a vital leadership role in a high-acuity environment where patients have undergone complex cardiac and thoracic surgeries (e.g., CABG, valve replacements, heart/lung transplants).
important duties to be performed by the selected Nurse In charge (ICU) would be:
- **Supervise and Coordinate Staff**:
- Allocate patient assignments based on acuity and nurse competency.
- Manage shift schedules, breaks, and coverage needs.
- Act as a resource and mentor for bedside nurses.
- **Clinical Oversight**:
- Ensure high standards of care for critically ill cardiothoracic patients.
- Monitor patient progress and intervene in emergencies or complex cases.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, intensivists, and anesthesiologists.
- **Manage Unit Operations**:
- Maintain optimal staffing levels and unit workflow.
- Ensure readiness of critical equipment (e.g., ECMO, IABP, ventilators).
- Enforce infection control and safety protocols.
- **Patient and Family Communication**:
- Provide clear, compassionate updates to families, especially during crises.
- Address concerns, complaints, and special needs effectively.
- **Facilitate Interdisciplinary Collaboration**:
- Coordinate multidisciplinary rounds.
- Communicate effectively with PT, RT, pharmacy, social work, etc.
- **Mentoring and Staff Development**:
- Precept new nurses and support clinical education.
- Promote best practices and continuing education within the unit.
- **Emergency Response Leadership**:
- Take command during code blues, rapid responses, or patient decompensation.
- Coordinate team actions and delegate responsibilities in high-stress situations.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:
- Ensure accurate documentation of clinical and administrative data.
- Complete handoff reports, incident reports, and audit tools.
- **Policy Implementation and Compliance**:
- Enforce hospital and unit protocols, especially for high-risk procedures.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission).
- **Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance**:
- Participate in QI projects related to infection rates, readmissions, or surgical outcomes.
- Monitor and address unit-based performance metrics (e.g., CLABSI, CAUTI).
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
