**Job Overview**:
The Food & Beverage Captain plays a key role in overseeing the dining experience of guests within the restaurant, bar, or event space. This role is responsible for supervising the front-of-house operations, ensuring excellent customer service, managing a team of servers, and ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant or venue. The F&B Captain works closely with kitchen staff and management to meet guest expectations, maintain high standards of quality, and promote a positive dining atmosphere.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Guest Service**:
- Greet and welcome guests in a professional and friendly manner.
- Ensure guests are seated promptly and offer assistance with menu selections.
- Provide information about the menu, wine list, and daily specials.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and ensure high standards of service.
- Handle guest complaints and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.
**2. Operations Management**:
- Ensure smooth service flow during peak hours, assisting with service when necessary.
- Oversee table setups and ensure that all dining areas are clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.
- Monitor guest feedback and collaborate with kitchen staff to address any issues regarding food quality or service.
- Handle cash, credit transactions, and manage the billing process in a secure and efficient manner.
**3. Administrative Tasks**:
- Maintain records of guest preferences, special requests, and feedback for future reference.
- Assist in inventory management of food and beverage supplies.
- Help with the preparation and delivery of daily/weekly reports to management.
**4. Special Events and Promotions**:
- Support the implementation and coordination of special events, promotions, and theme nights.
- Ensure that guests enjoy a personalized and memorable dining experience during these events.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is a plus.
- **Experience**: At least 2-3 years of experience in food and beverage service, with some supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- **Skills**:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- In-depth knowledge of food and beverage service techniques and menu offerings.
- Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused attitude.
- Basic knowledge of point-of-sale systems and cash handling.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
**Work Environment**:
- The Food & Beverage Captain works in a restaurant, bar, or banquet setting.
- The position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
