**Roles and Responsibilities**

The above position will be responsible for the design and development of the guideway structure especially long span girders. He will develop the different design options and will perform the analysis, design of the guideway structure. He will also be responsible for carrying out the Rail Structure Interaction (RSI) of the guideway girder.**Job Accountabilities**

The engineer will perform following Duties & Responsibilities.

**Duties**:

- 1. Evaluate the different design options based on the span, different construction methods etc. e.g. Incremental launching method (ILM), FCM, MSS etc. In case of steel structures, it can be Rigid frame, Plate and Box girder, Truss bridge girder etc.
- 2. Create 2D element model & finite element model (FEM) of the potential design options in MIDAS, Sofistik or equivalent software. The girders can be in steel, concrete or composite material.
- 3. Design the guideway structures as modular, precast, prestressed, post tensioned members etc.
- 4. Design of straight path, horizontal/vertical curved paths and lateral switches for guideway girders.
- 5. Perform the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of the potential design options for material creep/shrinkage, differential temperature, moving loads, dynamic loads, fatigue etc.
- 6. Design the guideway for satisfactory performance criteria - deflection, vibration etc.
- 7. Perform the Rail Structure Interaction (RSI) study of the potential guideway design option.
- 8. Design connections - bearings between girder & pier/column, Friction grip/ pre-tensioned bolts, bearing, splices etc.
- 9. Design of foundation - isolated, raft, piles, pile-cap etc.

**Responsibilities**:

- 1. Prepare & release the Evaluation Report for Long Span guideway girder
- 2. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) report of the Guideway girder
- 3. Design Report of the guideway girder
- 4. Prepare (Draft) fit for construction, fabrication drawings of the guideway girder.
