**EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
Minimum of **3 to 5** years of experience in the legal field.
**ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree in **Law** from a recognised University
- LLM will be an added advantage
- Must have cleared **AIBE**
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
**PRIMARY**:
- Handling all the cases pertaining to our Company in Ramanagara District Court Complex.
- Handling future OS and IAs independently.
- Briefing case status on a weekly basis.
- Preparing weekly report regarding the same.
- Assisting the Senior Counsel whenever required.
**SECONDARY**:
Ø Promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company.
Ø Communicating with and managing any third-party bodies such as external counsel or auditors.
Ø Staying up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect your business and specific industry.
Ø Liaising with senior members of the team.
Ø As a Sole In-House Legal Counsel serve as internal legal advisor for your employer and provide advice on a variety of legal issues, draft and review contracts, and manage or assist in managing litigation.
Ø Prepare and draft legal documents such as contracts, agreements, policies, and procedures
Ø Manage litigation and liaise with and manage external attorneys
Ø Review and draft contracts, agreements, and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements
Ø Conduct legal analysis and research on various legal matters of the organization
**Ultimately, the role of the In-House Legal Counsel is to safeguard our company’s reputation by ensuring that the company strictly follows law guidelines and give legal advice to management about all relevant issues.**
**Job-Specific skills requirement**
**Courtroom Skills**
1. *Representation in Revenue Courts*:
- Experience in appearing before revenue courts, Land Tribunals, and appellate authorities.
2. *Drafting Pleadings*:
- Expertise in drafting writ petitions, appeals, and affidavits related to KLR Act matters.
3. *Cross-Examination*:
- Ability to challenge fraudulent tenancy claims or disputes over landholding.
**Legal Knowledge and Expertise on the KLR Act**
1. *Understanding of Land Laws*:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the *Karnataka Land Reforms Act, 1961*, including its key provisions, amendments, and rules.
- Familiarity with restrictions on ownership, tenancy rights, and agricultural land transactions under the Act.
2. *Expertise in Revenue Laws*:
- Knowledge of *RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy, and Crops)*, mutation processes, land use conversions, and related revenue records.
- Awareness of procedures to handle disputes involving the Tahsildar, Deputy Commissioner, or revenue authorities.
3. *Compliance and Documentation*:
- Proficiency in verifying land titles, due diligence, and ensuring compliance with the KLR Act and other applicable laws like the Karnataka Land Revenue Act.
4. *Litigation Skills in Land Disputes*:
- Expertise in arguing cases related to land acquisition, tenancy rights, ceiling limits, and exemptions under the Act.
- Handling appeals before tribunals, civil courts, or the Karnataka High Court.
5. *Interpretation of Amendments*:
- Up-to-date knowledge of recent amendments to the Act, such as changes in restrictions on non-agriculturists purchasing agricultural land.
**Interpersonal and Regulatory Skills**
1. *Coordination with Government Authorities*:
- Liaison with revenue officials, land tribunals, and sub-registrar offices to manage land-related issues.
2. *Stakeholder Communication*:
- Explaining land law implications to the management in simple terms to aid decision-making.
3. *Public Notices and Legal Opinions*:
- Drafting legal opinions on land transactions and issuing public notices for clarity on ownership.
**Technology and Research Skills**
1. *Legal Research*:
- Staying updated on judgments, case laws, and amendments affecting the KLR Act.
2. *Digital Land Records*:
- Familiarity with Bhoomi or other land record systems used in Karnataka.
