A production chemist in a research and development (R&D) organization plays a crucial role in the development and manufacture of chemical products and processes. Their primary responsibilities include:

- Collaborating with scientists and engineers to develop and improve chemical processes and products.
- Evaluating and testing chemical reactions and formulations. Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of production processes.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues in the production process.
- Ensuring the quality and consistency of products by performing quality control tests and analyses.
- Adhering to safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials and ensuring the safe operation of equipment.
- Complying with industry regulations and environmental standards.
- Documenting and maintaining records of experiments, processes, and safety procedures.
- Communicating findings and progress to team members and management.
- Operating and maintaining various laboratory and production equipment.
- A bachelor's or higher degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of chemical processes, reaction and the ability to scale laboratory processes to larger production scales.
- A commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of safety protocols in handling hazardous chemicals and operating equipment.
- Knowledge of quality control methods and techniques, and the ability to ensure product quality and consistency.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong record-keeping and documentation skills to maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and procedures.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, environmental standards, and compliance with relevant guidelines.
- Effective time management skills to meet project deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
