Teacher Mentor

**Reports to**: Primary Principal **Workdays**: Part-time role (3 days/week)
**Role**: The Teacher Mentor will provide bespoke, tailored guidance and support to enhance the quality of
teaching and learning in our primary school. This role is particularly focused on assisting new staff, newly
appointed middle leaders, and those in need of additional support to understand and meet the school's
expectations and standards.
**Key Accountabilities**:
**Bespoke Mentorship**:
- Offer personalised mentoring to new teachers and middle leaders, helping them acclimatise to the
school environment.
- Provide tailored guidance on teaching practices, curriculum delivery, and classroom management.
**Support for New Staff**:
- Assist newly appointed teachers in understanding school policies, practices, and expectations.
- Facilitate orientation sessions and workshops to familiarise new staff with the school’s ethos and
standards.
- Team-teach to support individual teachers to improve their practice.
**Professional Development**:
- Identify specific development needs and create customised guidance and support plans for individual
staff members.
- Collaborate, organise and lead training sessions with the PLT that align with identified needs and
enhance teaching effectiveness.
**Classroom Observation and Feedback**:
- Conduct classroom observations to provide constructive feedback aimed at improving teaching
practices.
- Encourage reflective practice by helping staff analyse their teaching and identify areas for growth.
**Collaboration and Team Building**:
- Foster a collaborative culture among staff by promoting peer observations and sharing best practices.
**Setting Expectations**:

- Clearly communicate the school’s expectations and standards to all mentees, ensuring they understand
the benchmarks for success.
- Monitor progress and provide ongoing support to help staff meet and exceed these expectations.
**Liaison with Leadership**:
- Work closely with the Primary School Leadership Team to align mentoring efforts with overall school
improvement initiatives and priorities.
- Provide feedback to leadership on the needs of staff and the effectiveness of mentoring programs

**Experience**:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a primary school setting, with demonstrated excellence in
teaching and leadership.
- Experience of teaching the National Curriculum of England is preferred.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
