**Pathology Summary**:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pathology Surgical Coder to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for assigning accurate and compliant codes for surgical pathology procedures and diagnoses. You will play a vital role in ensuring proper reimbursement for our pathology services.

**Responsibilities**:

- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for surgical pathology specimens based on physician reports and gross and microscopic examinations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of coding guidelines and regulations, including HCPCS coding.
- Stay up-to-date on coding updates and changes.
- Research and clarify any coding discrepancies with physicians.
- Audit coded reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with resolving coding denials.
- May participate in training new staff members on coding procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Certified coder (CPC, AAPC) or equivalent experience in pathology coding.
- Proven experience with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.
- Strong understanding of surgical pathology terminology and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience with [Specific Pathology Software] a plus.
- Experience in a hospital or laboratory setting.
- Previous experience with auditing and resolving coding denials.
