The role supports the GPB business, function, or HTS heads in the effective discharge of their risk management and internal control responsibilities.

**The Opportunity**:
The First Line Risk and Control team is responsible for assisting with and supporting the effective governance and management of non-financial risks in the First Line of Defence. The focus of the role is to support the effective management and monitoring of controls for GPB ASP

**What you’ll do**:

- Participate in validating the design and operating effectiveness of the key controls through inspection, inquiry, observation, sampling, re-performance and recalculation.
- Participate in the review of risks and key controls through end-to-end process walkthroughs, events or thematic reviews, data-driven reviews or issue read across, and evidence reviews.
- Participate in activities to help ensure control assessments are accurate, effective, comply with procedures and templates, and meet quality control requirements.
- Assist with the promotion of accountable risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis
- Assist with the provision of specialist risk and control knowledge and insights
- Identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment
- Support the challenging of poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours
- Help identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment
Requirements

**What you will need to succeed in the role**:

- Good understanding of operational risk and controls, preferably gained through experience in front line and risk roles
- A good understanding of the Group’s Operational Risk Framework
- Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Proven problem-solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions
- Highly developed communication and influencing skills
- Independent and able to work under mínimal supervision
- Ability to deal with complex problems and work under ambiguous conditions
- Ability to prioritize and work independently under pressure within a team environment
- Knowledge of the changing regulatory environment
- A sound knowledge of the Group and the GPB business, including products & services
- Detail-oriented and results-focused
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Skillset in digitalization, data analytics is an advantage
- Be a motivated team player and flexible in approach
