Junior Financial Controller

Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a **_Junior Financial Controller_** to work in a truly global environment taking responsibility for the controlling and reporting of the Dutch holding companies as well as preparing financial statements, monthly and quarterly reporting and handling tax issues. In addition, there will be responsibilities as a Financial Controller for some of our MLP entities managed from the Amsterdam office. As dual role the post-holder will gain insight to the Corporate structure of ED&F Man as well as into the MLP business unit on a more operational basis. The role provides long term development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in the fast-paced soft commodities environment.

Business Overview

**ED&F Man Liquid Products Division** is the leading global supplier in molasses, molasses blends and related liquid products as well as dry products for (mainly) the animal feed industry. We are a pioneer as well as a trader in liquid agricultural by-and
- co-products. We offer expertise in animal nutrition and feed dispense technology to farmers. We work closely with manufacturers, such as rum and yeast producers, to provide quality products from sustainable sources. Our capability includes sourcing, shipping, storage and distribution of molasses, molasses blends and other sugar co-products, as well as vegetable and fish oils.

We are part of **ED&F Man** **Commodities, **a world leading trader of agricultural products including coffee, sugar, molasses and animal feed.

Key Accountabilities

Corporate:

- Maintaining accounts for various Dutch holding companies
- Preparing and documenting (quarterly) board of director meetings for the holding companies and its subsidiaries
- Draft corporate income and VAT tax returns for the fiscal unity
- Work closely with the Group’s tax and legal department
- Perform treasury activities for the holding companies
- Sparring partner of the MLP Finance Director for Europe, Far East and Africa

MLP:

- Overseeing all periodic reporting for multiple companies; financial reporting (including budgeting and forecasting), group reporting and compliance
- Interpreting and analysing accounting information regarding profitability and against budget
- Adopting a business partner approach to support the commercial teams in their decision-making process
- Ensuring credit management covering credit risk and collection
- Liaising with local functional and finance managers to achieve key finance and business requirements
- Ensuring solid control environment in challenging international trade environment with robust processes in place
- Taking a continuous improvement approach

Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/economics (RBO/HBO considered)
- Qualified accountant qualification preferred (RA/CPA or similar)
- Experience in financial reporting in an international corporate business
- Fluency in business English is required and Dutch preferred. Other languages are advantageous
- Good knowledge of the Dutch tax system is preferred
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office and accounting software, knowledge of Hyperion preferred
- Flexible attitude and keen to take on new challenges
- Must be very organised and able to work within tight deadlines with minimum supervision
- High level of integrity, flexibility, ability to work under pressure and self-reflection are key attributes to perform this role
