Trainee Apprentice

**JOB OVERVIEW**:
As a Medical Coding Apprentice, you will receive hands-on training and mentorship to learn the essential skills required for medical coding. You will assist in the accurate coding of patient diagnoses, procedures, and healthcare services, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines. **JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Support the review of patient records to ensure completeness and coding compliance.
- Collaborate with coding team to understand coding standards and documentation requirements.
- Participate in regular training sessions to build proficiency in medical coding concepts, regulations, and software tools.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient health information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Contribute to quality assurance activities and audits, as required.
- Stay updated with changes in coding regulations, laws, and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in line with the apprenticeship program.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES**:

- Foundational knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare documentation.
- Familiarity with medical coding systems such as ICD-10-CM and CPT is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems is an advantage.

**QUALIFICATION**
- Holding a coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCA, CCS).
- Science graduates preferred.
