Job Description

Fuel Strategy & Planning

Develop and execute the long-term strategy for sourcing and managing fuel supply (biomass, coal, alternate fuels) across all operating and upcoming assets.Forecast plant-wise fuel demand and align sourcing, contracts, and delivery mechanisms to ensure uninterrupted supply.

Sourcing & Vendor Management

Build and maintain a reliable supplier base for coal, biomass, and alternative fuels.Lead contract negotiations and long-term agreements with domestic and international suppliers, traders, and logistics providers.Drive vendor development initiatives to improve supply security, fuel mix flexibility, and cost efficiency.

Logistics & Operations

Oversee inbound logistics and fuel transportation, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery performance.Implement and manage systems for inventory tracking, storage, quality checks, and fuel blending (if applicable).Identify and implement logistics efficiencies, including bulk movement strategies and multi-modal transport solutions.

Risk Management & Compliance

Monitor price trends, market movements, and regulatory changes affecting fuel sourcing and pricing.Develop strategies to mitigate fuel availability risks and manage exposure to price volatility.Ensure all operations comply with applicable environmental, legal, and safety regulations.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

Lead and mentor a distributed team responsible for fuel sourcing, logistics, vendor engagement, and analytics.Collaborate with plant operations, finance, legal, and sustainability teams to align procurement goals with overall business objectives.

The Successful Applicant

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA preferred.Minimum of 15 years of experience in fuel procurement-including coal, biomass, or alternative fuels-preferably for power generation or large industrial energy consumers.Proven experience in handling high-volume supply chains with multi-location delivery.
