Job Summary:

The Dean of the Business School is the chief academic and administrative leader of the school. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of academic, administrative, strategic, and operational functions within the school, ensuring alignment with the university’s overall mission and goals. The Dean will lead efforts to maintain and enhance the school’s reputation for academic excellence, innovation, and impact. The role requires a visionary leader with a strong background in business education, research, and administration.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Vision:Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Business School, developing and executing long-term goals, initiatives, and priorities.Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that empowers faculty, staff, and students to excel.Align the Business School’s strategic direction with the broader objectives of the university, ensuring academic and operational excellence.Academic Excellence:Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the business school’s curriculum across undergraduate, MBA, and executive education programs.Ensure the curriculum remains relevant to the evolving needs of the global business environment and industry trends.Foster innovation in teaching, including experiential learning, case studies, and partnerships with industry.Recruit, retain, and mentor high-quality faculty members, supporting their professional development in teaching, research, and service.Research & Scholarly Activity:Promote a culture of impactful research within the Business School, encouraging faculty to engage in both academic and applied research.Enhance the Business School’s reputation in the academic and business communities through innovative research initiatives.Secure external research funding through grants, industry partnerships, and collaboration with external institutions.Student Success & Engagement:Ensure high-quality student experiences, from admissions to graduation, and support student retention and satisfaction.Advocate for and implement initiatives to promote student career success, internships, job placements, and networking opportunities.Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Business School, ensuring that students from all backgrounds have access to high-quality education and opportunities.Administration & Operations:Oversee the school’s operations, including budget management, resource allocation, and long-term financial planning.Manage and optimize faculty and staff performance, including recruitment, evaluation, and professional development.Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and university policies and ensure that academic programs meet quality standards.External Relations & Advocacy:Represent the Business School to internal and external stakeholders, including alumni, potential donors, industry leaders, and academic partners.Foster strong relationships with business leaders and employers to enhance opportunities for students and faculty.Increase the Business School’s visibility and reputation globally by engaging with business and academic communities, participating in thought leadership, and promoting the school’s achievements.Fundraising & Development:Lead fundraising efforts to support the growth and development of the Business School.Work with the university’s development office to secure financial resources for scholarships, faculty positions, research initiatives, and school infrastructure.Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:Lead initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion within the Business School, including attracting diverse faculty and students.Develop programs that foster an inclusive culture, providing support for underrepresented groups and creating an environment of respect.

Qualifications:

Education:An MBA, Ph.D., or equivalent advanced degree in business or a related field from an accredited institution.Strong academic credentials with a record of professional achievements and scholarly contributions in the field of business.Experience:Minimum of 15 years of experience in business education, including substantial leadership experience in an academic environment (e.g., as a department chair, associate dean, or faculty leader).Demonstrated track record of success in managing faculty, staff, and students, as well as developing and implementing strategic plans.Experience in curriculum development, accreditation processes (e.g., AACSB), and global business education trends.Proven ability to build relationships with corporate leaders, alumni, and other key external stakeholders.Skills & Competencies:Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead in a fast-paced, complex, and evolving environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage faculty, staff, students, and external partners.Financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets, resources, and fundraising efforts effectively.Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including faculty, administration, students, alumni, and business leaders.A deep understanding of the changing landscape of business education and the needs of the business world.
