Overall objective of the position:
The Automation Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our software systems through automation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, develop and implement automation solutions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering processes.
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites, as well as implementing automation tools and frameworks to streamline software development and testing workflows.
Key accountabilities:
Test Automation Development:
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and test suites to validate software functionality, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate with QA engineers and software developers to identify test cases for automation and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Implement automation frameworks and tools to support various testing types, including functional, regression, performance, and API testing.
Tool Implementation and Integration:
• Evaluate automation tools, frameworks, and technologies to identify solutions that best meet project requirements and objectives.
• Integrate automation tools within the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
• Provide technical expertise and support to engineering teams in adopting and leveraging automation tools effectively.
Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD):
• Implement and maintain continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines to automate software build, test, and deployment processes.
• Monitor CI/CD pipelines and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth and reliable automation workflows.
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers to optimize CI/CD pipelines and enhance automation efficiency.
Process Improvement and Optimization:
• Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize engineering processes through automation, reducing manual effort and improving productivity.
• Implement automation solutions for repetitive tasks such as code reviews, code formatting, and deployment validations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement best practices and standards for automation development.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
• Document automation processes, procedures, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure consistency across projects.
• Provide training and support to team members on automation tools, frameworks, and techniques.
• Contribute to the development of technical documentation, including test plans, test cases, and automation scripts.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3 years of experience in automation engineering, with a focus on software development and testing automation.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and .Net.
• Experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Appium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
• Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Self-motivated with a passion for learning and continuous improvement. Relevant certifications in automation testing or software development are a plus.
• Available to work flexible hours (project teams may span time zones); with strong collaboration, communication and business relationship skills
