Position Summary: The Benefits Specialist plays a key role in providing our clients with an exceptional experience, while providing competitive benefits to their workforce. The incumbent ensures successful delivery of benefit services and offerings to clients, while maintaining a high-level of engagement through regular client communications and updates. Areas of support include day-to-day support of benefit processes, implementation of automation for accuracy (API/EDI carrier feeds), managing changes in enrollments (new hire additions and terminations), benchmarking competitive offerings, distribution of informative materials and regulatory compliance updates, troubleshoot and identify root cause issue resolution and providing exceptional client-facing support. Additionally, the Benefits Analyst will lead all benefit automation efforts within the department to maximize efficiencies, ensure accuracy and participate in expansion of the benefits practice.
Essential Duties:
Implements and manages automation supporting enrollments and carrier feeds/updates, ensuring timeliness of both new enrollments and terminations
Leads benefit initiatives, serves as intermediary between producers/brokers and carriers; serves as primary contact for vendors, carriers or third-party administrators
Research and resolves issues related to benefits enrollments, disenrollments, claims processing, compliance, and cost management
Performs audits to ensure accurate data flow, accurate client invoices, employee enrollments and carrier commissions and credits
Manages client terminations and carrier feeds/updates
Maintain detailed records related to client benefit data and changes
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between licensed producers/brokers and clients, which may include, monthly or quarterly reports for clients, email communications, flyers, presentations, and data
Deliver exceptional client service to sustain and expand relationships, supporting future business opportunities
Collaborate with internal teams, finance departments, benefit providers, and legal advisors for seamless benefits administration
Performs plan audits; identifies and ensures resolution for errors
Monitors administrative costs of benefits programs and recommend cost containment strategies, including alternative methods for administration and funding
Prepares budgetary recommendations and assist in the monitoring, verifying and reconciling of budgeted funds
Apply knowledge of federal and state laws governing benefits, including ERISA, ACA, FMLA, COBRA, and other state-mandated benefits
Provides regularly monthly data and reporting to leadership
Other duties as assigned and related to the administration of benefit programs
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing employer-sponsored benefits.
Familiarity with benefits administration portals such as ADP Run and Workforce, Gusto, Ease Central, Employee Navigator, Paycom, and others.
Strong proficiency in English (written, comprehension, and speaking).
Proficiency in MS Outlook and MS Excel.
Any graduation degree.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Work will be performed on laptop/computer primarily in an office environment. Some travel may be required. The position will require long hours on a computer keyboard and monitor with prolonged periods of standing and/or walking and/or sitting. Physical requirements include standing for long periods of time, walking, squatting, twisting, bending, reaching, and lifting, pushing, and lifting between 10-50lbs regularly.
