Job Role

We are seeking an experienced DevOps developer to lead the deployment of SAS Viya in a production environment using Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service). The focus of this role is to automate, optimize, and secure the setup, ensuring seamless integration with our existing infrastructure and DevOps ecosystem. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Kubernetes, AWS, DevOps methodologies, and a deep understanding of SAS Viya or similar applications.



Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of SAS Viya installation, configuration, and performance optimization on EKS in a production setting.
  • Apply DevOps best practices to automate the deployment, scaling, and management process via CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Bamboo, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD).
  • Work closely with platform, security, and infrastructure teams to integrate monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana), logging (Fluentbit, CloudWatch), and alerting solutions.
  • Secure and harden the Kubernetes environment by adhering to AWS and Kubernetes security guidelines.
  • Address security vulnerabilities in SAS Viya container images using tools like Aqua, while managing ongoing security patching.
  • Enhance the performance and scalability of the EKS cluster and SAS Viya to handle production workloads efficiently.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting and performance tuning support for the EKS cluster.
  • Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions with internal DevOps teams to facilitate smooth operations post-deployment.



Required Skills & Competencies


  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps with strong expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Demonstrated experience in deploying and managing applications on AWS EKS, including network configuration, security groups, IAM roles, and scaling mechanisms.
  • Hands-on experience with SAS Viya or similar enterprise-grade applications.
  • Solid experience with CI/CD automation tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) to automate AWS infrastructure provisioning.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Fluentbit, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud security, container security, and vulnerability management using tools like Aqua or Twistlock.
  • Strong familiarity with AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and VPC.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve Kubernetes performance and networking challenges.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with a focus on automation and optimization.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the project.



Required Experience & Qualifications


  • AWS certifications (such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or AWS certified Kubernetes Administrator) are highly valued.
  • Familiarity with GitOps practices and tools like ArgoCD or Flux for continuous delivery.
  • Experience with DevSecOps principles, incorporating security into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Previous experience working in regulated industries such as finance is an advantage.
