Key ResponsibilitiesIntegrate adaptation priorities into national climate frameworks, ensuring alignment with the Paris Agreement and national development goals.Conduct Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (CVRAs) across sectors such as agriculture, water, health, biodiversity, and coastal ecosystemsApply climate models and risk analytics to inform strategic planning and prioritization of adaptation responsesIdentify and size adaptation measures with clear outcomes, implementation timelines, and cost estimatesEvaluate techno-commercial feasibility of proposed interventions and map relevant financing sourcesSupport the preparation of funding proposals for climate adaptation, including those targeting GCF, GEF, and other international mechanismsFacilitate inclusive stakeholder consultations, engaging government agencies, civil society, youth, women, and vulnerable groups.Align adaptation strategies with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development plansContribute to the design of Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems in line with Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) requirementsDraft technical content for reports, presentations, and policy briefs tailored to diverse audiencesProvide policy recommendations that strengthen climate resilience and adaptation integrationCollaborate with public and private sector stakeholders to support implementation and resource mobilizationRequired QualificationsAdvanced degree in climate science, environmental studies, sustainable development, natural resource management, or related discipline5+ years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or related fieldsDemonstrated involvement in developing or updating NDCs, LT-LEDS, or NAPs, particularly in developing country contextsProficiency in conducting CVRAs and translating findings into actionable strategiesExperience working with climate models and interpreting risk projectionsStrong grasp of techno-commercial analysis, cost estimation, and financing pathwaysFamiliarity with climate finance mechanisms such as GCF, GEF, and bilateral donor programsEffective communication, analytical thinking, and facilitation skills.Exposure to UNFCCC reporting processes (BUR, TNC, BTR) is an advantagePreferred AttributesPrior experience supporting national governments in climate strategy developmentBackground in climate and sustainability consulting or advisory roles.Knowledge of ecosystem-based adaptation, nature-based solutions, and coastal resilience approachesAbility to integrate gender and social inclusion into adaptation planning.Skilled in translating technical analysis into policy guidance and investment strategies
