Position Overview

The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) will serve as the head of the Fire & Safety Division, responsible for ensuring fire prevention, protection, and emergency preparedness across a diverse and complex portfolio of facilities. These include warehouses, residential buildings, office complexes, and large parking zones capable of accommodating more than 1,000 trucks at any given time, spread across 12+ locations in India.

This position requires a senior professional with over 15 years of fire and safety leadership experience , strong technical expertise, and proven ability to manage large multi-location teams (100+ fire and safety staff) while ensuring compliance with national and international safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Administrative

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fire and life safety strategy for warehouses, residential colonies, offices, and large truck-parking hubs.
  • Formulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) tailored for multi-use facilities with high footfall, vehicle density, and valuable assets.
  • Advise senior management on infrastructure upgrades, adoption of modern fire protection systems, and long-term safety planning.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of 100+ firemen and fire service staff across 12+ cities.
  • Ensure full operational readiness of fire-fighting systems, rescue equipment, hydrants, sprinklers, alarms, and suppression systems across all facilities.
  • Oversee fire safety arrangements at large-scale vehicle parking areas (with 1,000+ trucks), ensuring quick response capability for high-risk environments.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination between fire teams at different locations.

Fire Safety Compliance & Audit

  • Conduct periodic audits, inspections, and risk assessments at warehouses, residential colonies, offices, and parking hubs.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Building Code, Fire Safety Act, Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) guidelines , and other statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with State Fire Departments, local authorities, and other regulatory bodies for obtaining approvals, licenses, and NOCs.

Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Management

  • Lead fire-fighting, rescue, and evacuation operations during emergencies.
  • Develop and maintain robust disaster management and crisis response plans for facilities with large vehicular and human presence.
  • Coordinate with external agencies such as state fire services, police, hospitals, and disaster management authorities during large-scale emergencies.

Training & Capacity Building

  • Organize regular fire drills, evacuation exercises, and awareness programmes for employees, residents, contractors, and drivers of heavy vehicles.
  • Design specialized training modules for fire personnel deployed at warehouses and truck parking areas , where risks are high.
  • Mentor junior officers to build future leadership within the Fire & Safety Division.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain detailed reports, incident logs, and MIS records on fire safety operations, audits, drills, and emergency responses.
  • Prepare compliance reports and submit them to the management and competent authorities as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Fire Engineering / Fire Safety from a recognized institute (NFSC, Nagpur, or equivalent preferred).
  • Additional certifications in Industrial Safety, Disaster Management, or Occupational Health & Safety will be an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience in Fire & Safety management in reputed organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling large-scale, multi-location facilities including warehouses, residential complexes, office buildings, and high-capacity parking areas.
  • Proven leadership in managing 100+ personnel across multiple cities in India.
  • Prior experience in emergency response planning, audits, and compliance for complex facilities.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fire protection systems, safety codes, and risk assessment methodologies .
  • Ability to lead operations in high-risk zones with heavy vehicle movement and storage facilities .
  • Crisis management, decision-making under pressure, and analytical problem-solving.
  • Excellent coordination and liaison skills with government agencies, emergency services, and internal departments.
  • High standards of integrity, discipline, and commitment to public safety.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Starting from ₹75,000/- per month plus allowances as per organizational rules.
  • Note: Compensation is not a limiting factor for deserving candidates; final remuneration will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and performance in interview.
