Physical Design Principal Engineer / Manager: Experience- 10 to 12 years Notice Period - 0 to 90 days Location - Bangalore Role Overview: We are seeking a Physical Design Principal Engineer/Manager to lead and manage our physical design projects. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the technical delivery of multiple projects, ensuring timely execution, and solving complex technical challenges. You will serve as the key technical expert and a go to person, guiding teams through physical design implementation, verification, and signoff. Additionally, as we continue to grow, you will be instrumental in scaling the team to a larger, more capable group. Key Responsibilities : Ownership of Project Delivery : Lead the execution of multiple physical design projects, ensuring timely delivery and high quality. Serve as the technical owner of the physical design flow, including synthesis, place & route (PnR), timing closure, and signoff. Monitor project progress, anticipate risks, and proactively unblock technical challenges faced by the team. Ensure that all deliverables meet customer specifications. Technical Leadership : Act as the subject matter expert in physical design and mentor the team on best practices, methodologies, and advanced techniques. Provide hands-on guidance and technical expertise to resolve design issues in areas such as low power design, clock tree synthesis (CTS), timing closure, etc. Lead critical design reviews and ensure technical quality across all phases of project execution. Interface with customers to discuss technical requirements, project updates, and delivery expectations. Team Development and Growth : Develop and implement strategies to grow the physical design team, attracting top talent and building technical capabilities. Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Collaborate with HR and management to identify skill gaps and initiate training programs to upskill the team. Collaboration and Communication : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end design, verification, and DFT teams to ensure seamless project integration. Maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to align on technical roadmaps and delivery schedules. Provide regular project updates and technical reports to senior management. Key Requirements : Technical Expertise : 10+ years of experience in Physical Design, with a strong track record of delivering high-performance, low-power designs. Deep understanding of physical design flows, including floorplanning, power grid design, clock tree synthesis (CTS), PnR, timing closure, and signoff. Expertise in EDA tools such as Cadence Innovus and Mentor Calibre for signoff (DRC/LVS). Strong experience in working with advanced process nodes (e.g., 7nm, 5nm, or lower). Management and Leadership Skills : Proven experience leading teams, driving projects, and delivering results. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in fast-paced, technical environments. Communication and Client Interaction : Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to both internal and external stakeholders. Experience interacting with clients and managing expectations regarding project timelines and technical issues.
