FRESHERS WELCOME - Writer/Editor (English Books) - @Bengaluru (for US Publishing House)
Want to write for the top 1% in the world?
Stardom Books, a US-based publishing house (with a wholly owned branch in India) is looking to hire motivated and talented writers and editors in Bengaluru, India. The ideal candidate is a super-excited writer who is extremely comfortable with writing business related books in the range of 60K-80K words.
What is expected: Writes/Edits non-fiction book chapters in English (American/British) based on inputs by industry experts. Has a journalism background and is highly proficient in written English language, usage, and grammar. Can write interesting book chapters using subject matter expert inputs, combining anecdotes, examples, research and other elements to make 'bland' content become interesting for the readers.
Responsibilities
- Write books based on outlines, expert interviews and research in English.
- Line-edit manuscripts in English, checking for flow, comprehension, meaning and relevance.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging content
- Research on various topics online to add the Editor’s perspective to manuscripts.
- Use online and offline tools to check for punctuation, grammar etc.
- Can write independently WITHOUT using generative AI (like ChatGPT).
- Coordinate with our clients and rewrites or edits full length non-fiction books to polish up the raw content and bring it up to international publishing standards.
Requirements
- Mastery level skills in verbal and written English communication
- Attention to detail including meticulous proofreading and editing skills, ensuring accuracy and quality in all content produced.
- Self-motivated and self-directed with a positive attitude
- Bachelor’s degree in creative writing, journalism, English, or related field
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs etc.
- Should bring their own LAPTOP to work
- Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Be prepared to work long hours if required

Expected Start Date: Immediate
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Work from our Bangalore office .
Salary:
Freshers (no experience): 3 Lakhs per annum CTC for first 6 months (training period), then appointment.
Experienced: 4 Lakhs - 7 Lakhs per annum CTC (depending on skills and experience)
This is a full time position. Moonlighting, part-time working or freelancing is strictly not allowed. Work from home (WFH) is NOT available for this role.
