Must-Have**

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on VMWARE Management with Admin (Technical) Skills
  • Knowledge of overall VMWARE Architecture, Performance Tunning & High Availability.

Good-to-Have

  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux, PostgreSQL, Bank Domain, Servers, Storage & Network.
  • Good Knowledge on Red Hat OpenShift/any Container platform will be added advantage.
  • Basic working knowledge of scripting

Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role

1 Install, configure and maintain VMware ESXi & vCenter servers of version 6.7, 7.0, 8.0

2 VMware Environment Build and Design Providing support during build and run phases of project

3 Installation, configuration, and administration of components in a large VMware environment cantered around best practices, to include vCenter, VMware Update Manager, vRealize Operations Manager and vCenter Site Recovery Manager

4 Creating and managing virtual machines. Performing various tasks such as VMDK Expansions, virtual CPU and RAM upgrade, vSnapshot and clone creation and deletion, Capacity report, datastore creation on LUN extents6

5 Good understanding of motion/ DRS/ HA/ FT, storage system, SAN, NAS.

6 Experience in VM template design and leveraging vCenter Operations Manager to right size, virtual servers

7 Creation, migration, cloning, snapshots, backup, recovery and troubleshooting of Virtual machines

8 Good knowledge of change management processes and ticketing applications and Capacity Management

9 Good knowledge on backup and recovery and server patching process for VMware

10 Hardening and Vulnerability Mitigation of Windows & VMware

11 Asset / CMDB Management

12 Understand Application & Business Requirements

13 Disaster Recovery (DR) - Planning, Implementation, Testing and Execution

14 Integration with various infra tools with Management – AV, PAM, SIEM, DAM, Appnomics etc.

15 Collaboration with developers, system administrators and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance

16 Provide VMware support including incident and work requests within the virtualization infrastructure spanning multiple data centers, across multiple VMWare ESX environments

17 Configure and optimize the virtual infrastructure

18 Working with change tools to maintain client SLAs

19 Monitor virtualization infrastructure and provide advice on capacity requirements

20 Provide security compliance under relevant security policies

21 Provide support and advice to projects requirement for current & future IT platforms project

22 Proactively managing the environment to prevent incidents from occurring

23 Proactively identify inefficiencies in operations with the objective of improving the quality of the working environment Requirements:

24 Experience and demonstrated skills in systems administration which includes 24x7 operations, Virtualization environments (VMware) across multiple VMWare ESX environments, and Multiple data centers

25 In depth knowledge in VMware vSphere,Windows Server 2003, 2003R2, 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2, 2016 & 2019

26 Manage & Maintain VMware infrastructure

27 In depth knowledge in DNS, DHCP and file services

28 Responsible for troubleshooting OS & server hardware related issues by coordinating with Datacenter engineers.

29 Identify issues is VMware/Windows environment proactively.

30 Troubleshooting and break-fix of issues in VMware / Windows

31 Health check of VMware/Windows environment

32 Responsible for managing McAfee ePO server & managing latest DAT versions on all client systems

33 Responsible for applying security patches to VMware & windows servers

34 Responsible for building & hardening VMware/Windows servers

35 Analyze server logs & provide root cause analysis during Major incidents

36 Manage & maintain permissions on File servers & NAS shares

Requirement and skills

1 Preference will be given to candidates with experience in VMware vSphere, VSAN, NSX,. The highest preference will be given to those candidates with related experience and certification in any or all of these technologies.

2 Demonstrable experience responding to end user helpdesk tickets with excellent customer service.

3 Demonstrable understanding of good VM backup and recovery practices.

4 Understand how to follow good ITIL service management practices.

5 Have working knowledge of security methodologies in an enterprise infrastructure

6 Have knowledge of intermediate networking management concepts and client troubleshooting

7 Strong customer-service competencies, oral and written communication, technical documentation, time-management, and project management skills

8 Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

9 Excellent change impact analysis skills for break-fixes, upgrades, and patches

10 Maintain systems according to established requirements through testing, implementation, and monitoring through the complete lifecycle of the product or solution

11 Be able to work in a dynamic, highly demanding, and highly visible team while keeping a professional attitude and composure

12 Be able to speak and relay information intelligently to both highly technical administrators and semi-technical personnel from various state agencies, customers, vendors, and other organizations

13 Be able to work effectively alone and within a team environment, demonstrating the ability to make progress across multiple complex assignments at once

14 Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills for VMware related issues.

15 Relevant certifications in VMWARE Admin can be advantageous

16 Communications skills are also essential

17 Good documentation skills to maintain clear records of VMware structure, configurations, and procedures.

18 Deep technical experience with enterprise VMware vSphere Virtualization technology.

19 Continuous learning to stay updated on the latest trends and development in VMware, RHEL & Windows

20 Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high demand environment
