Position Summary

Design, plan and review all technical packages related to plumbing and fire protection that includes specialty lab gas piping , major equipment such as pumps, piping , plumbing fixtures, water heater, sanitary piping ,lift stations, as well as associated equipment such as valves, strainers, expansion tanks.Conducting technical assessments, engineering technical assessments, feasibility studies for enhancement or modification of existing facilities and impact on existing systems. Ensure code compliances with respect to egress path and building occupancy code requirements


Scope of work

  • Conduct design reviews and providing technical comments for mechanical plumbing and fire systems.
  • Conduct detailed technical studies related to existing mechanical plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Enhancement of KAUST Engineering standards for Mechanical (Plumbing) division.
  • Assist the Plumbing & Fire Lead to update, revise & waive (if necessary) the KAUST Standards and design criteria in his role as Chairman of mechanical plumbing technical committee.
  • Develop conceptual designs, SOW and BOQ for all mechanical plumbing and fire system related Project Requests.
  • Provide technical support related to engineering design deliverables with respect to compliance with international engineering standards and procedures, relevant industry standards and good engineering practices.
  • Able to perform as a Technical Authority in the mechanical plumbing and fire protection discipline during upgrades, modifications and rectifications and prepare Technical Reports
  • Provide technical support for all ongoing projects and upcoming projects in KAUST.
  • Sufficient experience to understand and communicate project critical issues to other engineering specialists after meetings and discussions.
  • Ensures that new projects comply with mechanical plumbing and fire systems codes and standards.
  • Monitors work flows and schedules with designated contractors.
  • Detailed knowledge of/familiar with applicable International codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, IBC, ANSI and ASME standards etc.).
  • Preparing technical assessments and Conceptual designs for upcoming new projects.
  • Review of technical queries, technical submittal related to material selection.
  • Coordinate with KAUST stakeholders for assigned tasks.


Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge and familiarity with Engineering and design process
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Bachelor of Engineering.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years experience

Additional Requirement

  • Expertise in word, excel and PowerPoint.
