Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Agriculture Specialist – Poultry & Goatry (Value Chain Management) with expertise in poultry or goatry sectors. The candidate will lead value chain initiatives, develop strategies, and optimize processes to enhance productivity and income for farmers. This role is critical in fostering rural growth and building sustainable livelihood models, particularly through strategic interventions in poultry and goatry value chains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Value Chain Development: Design, implement, and manage value chain initiatives for poultry and goatry to maximize productivity and profitability.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with farmers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Pashu Sakhis, and local district teams to promote best practices in poultry and goatry management.
  • Training & Capacity Building: Develop and conduct training modules for SHG members, Pashu Sakhis, and other stakeholders on poultry and goatry farming techniques, health management, and value chain optimization.
  • Market Linkages: Establish and strengthen linkages with markets, suppliers, and buyers to ensure fair pricing and market access for poultry and goatry products.
  • Cluster Development: Identify potential areas for cluster development and mobilize farmers to participate in organized poultry and goatry clusters to streamline production and distribution.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Oversee field activities, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regularly assess program impact.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Compile, analyze, and present data on poultry and goatry production, profitability, and challenges to guide strategic decisions.
  • Innovation & Development: Identify and implement innovative practices in animal husbandry, feed management, and disease prevention to optimize yield and minimize costs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: BVSc & MVSc OR MBA in Rural Management with a focus on livestock or agricultural development.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of hands-on experience in poultry or goatry value chain management, with a proven track record of developing and managing rural agricultural programs.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of poultry and goatry production, health management, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and motivate rural stakeholders; excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and regional languages.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation, with a strategic approach to problem-solving.
  • Market Knowledge: Familiarity with agricultural markets, product pricing, and strategies for establishing robust market linkages.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel extensively across project sites in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
