Head of QA/QC Standards & Annotation Quality (Subject Matter Expert)About the roleContineu, a fast-growing AI-native construction tech company, is seeking a highly experienced Head of QA/QC Standards & Annotation Quality to establish and enforce world-class quality standards in defect detection across our platform.This leader will ensure that defect annotations are accurate, consistent, and reliable, directly impacting our computer vision algorithms and bolstering client confidence in our product.The ideal candidate has 10–20 years of hands-on construction QA/QC experience (with substantial exposure to large-scale projects in the Middle East/GCC region with developers like EMAAR, DAMAC, Sobha, Danube,) and a proven record of leading sizable QA/QC teams on major projects.In this role, you will head Contineu’s entire quality module – leveraging your deep subject matter expertise in construction defects to define annotation standards and train our AI models with high-quality data, ultimately shaping a new global benchmark for construction defect detection.Key Responsibilities- Quality Leadership: Define and implement QA/QC standards for defect detection and annotation that align with international best practices. Establish benchmark quality protocols to ensure our defect identification process meets or exceeds global construction standards.- Annotation Oversight: Oversee the defect annotation process end-to-end. Review, validate, and refine annotations made by the team to ensure the highest level of accuracy and consistency in labeling construction defects.- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage the QA/QC annotation team. Set performance benchmarks and KPIs, conduct regular quality audits, and cultivate a culture of excellence. (In previous roles, you should have experience managing large QA/QC teams, e.g. leading 50+ inspectors on major projects.)- Training & Development: Develop comprehensive training programs and continuous education initiatives for annotation specialists and quality inspectors. Ensure the team is skilled in identifying a wide range of construction defects consistently and with precision.- Process Excellence: Establish and document clear annotation protocols, review mechanisms, and escalation procedures for complex or ambiguous defect cases. Continuously improve workflows by integrating digital QA/QC tools to streamline inspections and quality reporting.- Customer Confidence: Serve as the internal QA/QC authority in client engagements. Provide assurance to clients and stakeholders that Contineu’s defect detection results are credible, accurate, and benchmarked against the most stringent global standards.- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data science and product teams to improve annotation workflows and provide structured feedback for algorithm training. Your field expertise will inform model development, ensuring the AI is learning from high-quality, domain-accurate data.- Continuous Improvement: Monitor performance metrics of defect detection (false positives/negatives, consistency, etc.) and drive continuous improvement. Implement feedback loops to update standards and training as construction practices and project requirements evolve.Qualifications and Experience- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced quality certifications (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) are highly preferred.- Experience: 15+ years of progressive QA/QC experience in major construction projects (residential, commercial, mixed-use). This should include significant work on large-scale projects such as high-rise buildings, hotels, airports, etc., where quality requirements are rigorous. Experience in the Middle East/GCC construction industry, known for its stringent quality benchmarks, is strongly desirable.- Quality Leadership: Proven track record of establishing and upholding quality standards in construction. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire large QA/QC teams (including managing teams of dozens of quality engineers/inspectors) and to implement robust quality management systems on-site.- Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of construction defects across all disciplines – structural, MEP, architectural finishing, and fit-outs. Able to identify root causes and implications of defects in these areas from a practical, field-oriented perspective.- Standards & Systems: Deep knowledge of construction quality management systems and internationally recognized QA/QC standards (e.g., ISO 9001, OSHA, local building codes). Capable of aligning Contineu’s defect annotation criteria with global QA/QC best practices and regulatory standards.- Digital Proficiency: Hands-on experience with modern digital QA/QC tools and inspection management software for tracking inspections, reporting issues, and ensuring compliance (e.g., BIM 360 Field, Procore, or similar platforms). Comfortable leveraging technology to enhance quality processes.- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to train, mentor, and motivate teams, and to effectively communicate quality findings and standards to both technical teams (engineers, data scientists) and non-technical stakeholders (clients, project managers). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.Why Join Contineu?We’re building the vertical data infrastructure for construction sites. We are open to candidates currently in the Middle East/GCC or other locations who are willing to relocate to India. (Remote work options can be discussed case-by-case.)
