We are a US-based startup actively looking for a  Backend Engineer to join our growing development team. This is a  fully remote position, but candidates must be able to work in the  Indian timezone (IST) . We are seeking engineers who are available to start  immediately in terms of both their current obligations and have the technical expertise to fully succeed in this role. Required Skills: Backend Development: Node.js : Expert-level knowledge in Node.js with at least 3+ years of experience in building high-performance applications. Express.js : Deep understanding of Express.js framework for building REST APIs. Java Script (ES6+): Proficiency in modern Java Script features and asynchronous programming (promises, async/await). Database Management: Postgre SQL : 3+ years of hands-on experience with Postgre SQL, including query optimization, transaction management, and schema design for high-traffic applications. Caching and Message Queues: Redis : Strong experience in leveraging Redis for caching, session management, and pub/sub models. Proven ability to handle high read/write loads. Message Queues : Experience with message brokers (e.g., Rabbit MQ, Kafka) and building event-driven systems. Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment: AWS : Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.), including setting up scalable infrastructure. Docker : Practical knowledge of Docker for containerization. Kubernetes : Familiarity with Kubernetes for container orchestration and managing microservices. Saa S Development: Proven track record of building and maintaining  multi-tenant Saa S applications with a strong understanding of data isolation, scalability, and security best practices. Code Quality & Architecture: Passionate about clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Strong understanding of software architecture principles and best practices, including SOLID principles, and building modular and extensible systems. Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, especially in written form, as our team operates with asynchronous communication. Ability to document processes, APIs, and architectural decisions clearly and concisely. Agile/Scrum Principles: Participate in Agile-based ceremonies like daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure alignment and continuous improvement. Has strong cross-collaborative skills and knows how to work within a Scrum environment Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, front-end) in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality, scalable backend solutions. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while adhering to Scrum methodologies and timelines. Contribute to backlog grooming and sprint prioritization by providing estimates and technical input during sprint planning. Job Details: Location : Fully remote, but requires availability to work in the  Indian timezone (IST). Compensation is based on experience and skills, with opportunities for growth and progression within the company for those who perform well and demonstrate commitment. The compensation will be structured as a  contractor agreement since we do not have an Indian entity. Interview Process: Our interview process is focused on real-world scenarios: You will work through  practical coding assessments to demonstrate your technical expertise. We prioritize  practical, real-world challenges over abstract algorithmic tests, so be prepared to discuss previous projects, design decisions, and architectural challenges. You'll be tested on fundamentals. In addition, we will also have a culture fit interview with our Agile Product Manager to evaluate cross-collaboration within our development teams.
