We are looking for a strategic and client-facing Lead Generative AI Engineer to join our freelance talent network. This network is comprised of senior, consultative individuals who partner with us on pre-sales activities, discovery sessions, and short-term proof-of-concept (PoC) projects, often lasting around six weeks with the potential to extend. As a Lead Consultant, you will be at the forefront of shaping and delivering high-impact GenAI solutions, taking ownership from conception to deployment for our clients. This role requires individuals who are established independent consultants, comfortable with short-notice, and open to fractional or project-based engagements.

Solution Leadership: Engage directly with clients to understand their business challenges and lead the ideation and design of innovative Generative AI solutions.

Translate client needs into actionable solution concepts, defining the architecture, data strategy, model selection, and tooling required for success.

Project Ownership: Lead the end-to-end delivery of GenAI solutions, ensuring technical quality, alignment with business goals, and timely execution of project milestones.

Guide and mentor cross-functional teams, including other engineers and data scientists, fostering best practices and ensuring project accountability.

While leading the project, remain hands-on with tools, models, and code to prototype, build, and troubleshoot complex components of the application.

Stakeholder Management: Proposal Development: Collaborate with Andela's internal teams to co-develop tailored proposals, Statements of Work (SOWs), and implementation roadmaps.

Proven experience leading technical teams and taking ownership of the design, development, and deployment of AI-driven solutions.

Deep understanding of Generative AI technologies, including LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, LLaMA), RAG architectures, vector databases, embeddings, and agentic systems.

Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy GenAI solutions using Python and relevant frameworks (e.g., Hands-on experience with cloud-based ML/AI services such as AWS Sagemaker, Azure OpenAI, or Google Vertex AI.

Prior experience in a consulting, pre-sales, or freelance capacity is strongly preferred, demonstrating an ability to work effectively with external clients.

Comfort with the dynamic nature of short-term PoC projects where requirements may evolve.
