Title: Engineering Manager

Key skills: Backend heavy with Java + SQL +AWS

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full-stack and backend software engineers,
  • fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to
  • define technical roadmaps and ensure timely delivery of features.
  • Drive best practices in software development, including code quality,
  • architecture design, testing, and deployment.
  • Develop and execute plans to scale applications for performance and reliability
  • while addressing business needs.
  • Ensure alignment of team goals with organizational objectives and promote a
  • culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the development process and provide solutions to
  • technical challenges.
  • Act as a technical leader, staying current with emerging trends and ensuring
  • adoption of relevant tools and technologies.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or
  • equivalent practical experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in software development and 2+ years of experience
  • managing or leading engineering teams.
  • Strong technical background in backend development, preferably with Java,
  • Spring Boot, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS,
  • Azure).
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor engineers at different levels of experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to align technical
  • execution with business priorities.
  • Experience managing projects with Agile methodologies, delivering results in a
  • fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for building technology that makes an impact in the education sector.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with distributed systems or SaaS platforms.
  • Hands-on experience in database design and optimization (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with education technology and the unique challenges of developing
  • products for teachers and students.
