Job Summary:

The Head of Quality Control in the food industry is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance and control processes to ensure food products meet regulatory standards, customer expectations, and safety requirements. This role ensures the highest quality of products from raw materials to finished goods, while driving continuous improvement in production and safety processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Management:

  • Lead the development and implementation of quality control systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., FSSAI, FDA, HACCP) and internal quality standards.
  • Oversee regular audits, inspections, and testing processes across all production stages.

Process Monitoring:

  • Supervise the quality control team to monitor and evaluate the production process, ensuring consistency and safety.
  • Develop protocols for raw material inspection, in-process control, and finished product testing.
  • Address any quality deviations or non-conformities swiftly and implement corrective actions.

Compliance & Certification:

  • Maintain certifications and compliance with industry standards (ISO, BRC, etc.).
  • Ensure the proper documentation of all quality control processes and procedures for internal and external audits.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives for product quality and process efficiency.
  • Work closely with the R&D, production, and procurement teams to address quality-related issues and innovate solutions.
  • Lead quality training programs for staff to maintain high standards and awareness.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor the quality control team, ensuring proper resource allocation and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of quality and safety throughout the organization.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in quality control, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality control methods, and industry certifications.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in quality control software and tools.
