Funded by Premji Invest- Azim Premji’s Investment arm and NewQuest, iD Fresh manufactures 55,000 kg of idly/dosa batter every day and delivers it to over 30,000 retail outlets. The company’s product range has grown to include a wide range of fresh ready-to-cook foods including ‘Squeeze and Fry’ Vada Batter, South Indian Filter Coffee decoction, Ragi Idly/Dosa batter, Natural Paneer and Malabar Parota among others. The company has also launched an organic product line and will soon be converting its entire operations to organic.
About the Operational Model
As our product is different from others, so is our business model. All our fresh products are made for the day they are shipped to retail stores. We have zero finished goods inventory, and hence no intermediary stockists or transitory warehouses. This is possible only with the help of an inhouse fleet of vehicles and distribution personnel. Currently a fleet of 500+ dedicated vehicles and crew touch 30,000 retailers daily and replenish 100,000+ Kgs units of the freshest produce.
Job Overview:
As the Head-Institutional Sales & Exports, you will lead our business-to-business sales efforts and export operations. You will play a crucial role in driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and establishing strong relationships with institutional clients and export partners. This position requires strategic thinking, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the food industry and export regulations.
Role reports directly to Chief Business Officer (CBO).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and maximize market penetration in the institutional and export segments.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with institutional clients, including hotels, restaurants, catering companies, and other food service providers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including institutional clients, distributors, and export partners, to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Lead a high-performing sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to drive performance and foster a culture of excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, production, logistics, and finance, to ensure seamless execution of sales and export operations.
- Stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory requirements to inform strategic decision-making and maintain a competitive edge.
- Oversee the export process from order placement to delivery, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and standards.
- Monitor sales performance, analyze sales data, and prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and client meetings to promote our products and services and expand our network of contacts.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and profitability within the institutional sales and export departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Proven work experience of 10-15 years in institutional sales and export management roles within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong leadership abilities with demonstrated experience in leading and developing high-performing sales teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies.
- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving revenue growth and achieving business objectives.
