Job Summary:
The Academic Officer for Primary School is responsible for overseeing the academic planning, implementation, and evaluation of the primary school curriculum. This role includes supporting teachers, ensuring curriculum alignment, promoting innovative teaching strategies, and monitoring student progress. The Academic Officer works closely with the Principal and other school staff to ensure that academic standards are met and that students receive a high-quality education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Management:
- Design, implement, and regularly update the primary school curriculum to align with the school’s academic standards and objectives.
- Ensure that curriculum materials are relevant, up-to-date, and meet the developmental needs of primary students.
- Monitor the execution of lesson plans and instructional strategies across the school.
- Teacher Support and Development:
- Provide guidance and support to teachers in developing effective teaching strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Organize and conduct professional development workshops and training sessions for teachers.
- Offer feedback and mentoring to improve teaching practices and student engagement.
- Academic Monitoring:
- Track and analyze students' academic performance and progress using assessments and other data-driven methods.
- Work with teachers to implement intervention strategies for students who require additional academic support.
- Ensure that assessments, evaluations, and report cards are in line with school policies.
- Educational Leadership:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting innovative teaching methods and academic programs.
- Collaborate with teachers, the Principal, and other school leaders to develop school improvement plans.
- Encourage cross-curricular initiatives that support a well-rounded education for primary students.
- Parent and Community Engagement:
- Act as a liaison between the school and parents, addressing academic concerns and communicating student progress.
- Organize parent-teacher meetings and provide updates on curriculum changes and school initiatives.
- Promote community involvement in school activities and academic events.
- Administrative Duties:
- Assist in organizing and managing school schedules, events, and extracurricular activities that support academic goals.
- Coordinate with the administrative team to ensure smooth functioning of the academic operations.
- Maintain records of student assessments, academic interventions, and teacher performance.
Requirements:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or related field (with a focus on Primary Education preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching or educational administration, preferably in a primary school setting.
- Proven experience in curriculum development and teacher mentoring.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development and primary school pedagogy.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data and implement strategies to improve student performance.
- Proficient in educational technology tools and systems for classroom and administrative purposes.
