Job Summary: The Dean is a senior administrative position responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the School of Law within RV University. The Dean will play a critical role in shaping the academic and administrative direction of the department/college, fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring the success of students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership:
Provide visionary leadership in setting the academic and strategic direction of the school.
Foster an environment that encourages excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship.
Develop and implement innovative academic programs that align with the university's mission and strategic goals.
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and research initiatives within the school.
Faculty and Staff Management:
Recruit, hire, evaluate, and retain high-caliber faculty and staff.
Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
Promote a diverse and inclusive work environment that values equity and diversity.
Oversee faculty workload, tenure, and promotion processes.
Student Success:
Ensure the school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Monitor and improve student retention and graduation rates.
Collaborate with other university units to enhance student services and support.
Budget and Resource Management:
Develop and manage the school's budget effectively.
Seek external funding opportunities and grants to support departmental initiatives.
Allocate resources efficiently to support academic programs and research.
External Engagement:
Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders, including industry partners, alumni, and donors.
Represent the school at conferences, events, and in relevant professional organizations.
Promote the school reputation and achievements in the broader community.
Strategic Planning:
Contribute to the university's strategic planning efforts.
Develop and implement strategic plans and goals for the school.
Monitor and assess progress toward achieving strategic objectives.
Compliance and Accreditation:
Ensure that the school complies with accreditation standards and requirements.
Collaborate with accrediting bodies and oversee accreditation processes.
Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in a relevant field is required.
A record of scholarly achievement and teaching excellence.
Significant administrative leadership experience in higher education, including faculty and staff management.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
