Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, Fisheries, or a related field.
• 8 to 10 years of experience in conservation, environmental management, or sustainable development projects, preferably in coastal or mangrove ecosystems

• Strong knowledge of ecological principles, biodiversity conservation strategies, and environmental laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in data analysis, GIS mapping, and other tools for resource monitoring and management.
• Experience in leading projects with budget management is essential.
• Knowledge of National and Global frameworks/guidelines in wetland management and climate change.
• Professional proficiency in English and Bengali is required.
• Two-wheeler driving skills will be an added advantage.
Scope of Work:
1. Natural Resource Management (NRM):
o Design and implement strategies for sustainable management of natural resources in fragile ecosystems like the Sundarban.
o Balance conservation goals with sustainable resource utilization to support local livelihoods.
2. Integrated Farming Systems (IFS):
o Promote Integrated Farming Systems tailored to the Sundarban, combining aquaculture, agriculture, apiculture, and backyard poultry farming (BYPF) for sustainable productivity.
o Provide technical support and training to farmers.
3. Homestay Tourism:
o Develop and support community-based homestay tourism initiatives to create alternative livelihood opportunities.
o Align eco-tourism initiatives with conservation goals while enhancing community participation.
4. Group Livelihood Plans:
o Collaborate with community groups to design and implement sustainable livelihood plans.
o Provide guidance on enterprise development and market linkages.
5. Livelihoods Planning:
o Develop comprehensive livelihoods plans tailored to the Sundarban, addressing biodiversity, habitat loss, pollution, and climate change impacts.
o Identify key conservation priorities and strategies.
6. Training and Module Preparation:
o Develop and deliver training programs focusing on conservation, resource management, and sustainable practices.
o Create educational modules for community empowerment.
7. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other organizations to promote sustainable resource management practices.
o Conduct outreach programs to raise awareness about the Sundarban ecosystem.
8. Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure adherence to environmental laws and international conservation agreements.
o Advocate for policy reforms and stronger protections for the Sundarban ecosystem.
9. Emergency Response:
o Develop contingency plans for responding to natural disasters and environmental emergencies.
o Coordinate response efforts with relevant authorities to minimize ecological damage.
Desirable Skills:
• Experience in Natural Resource Management (NRM): Expertise in sustainable resource management specific to the Sundarban’ ecosystem.
• Integrated Farming Systems (IFS): Ability to promote sustainable farming practices aligned with local socio-economic conditions.
• Homestay Tourism Development: Proven experience in establishing and managing community- based tourism initiatives.
• Training Module Preparation: Skilled in creating and delivering training programs focusing on conservation and sustainable livelihoods.
• Group Livelihood Planning: Experience in designing livelihood plans for community groups, enhancing socio-economic resilience.
Skills Required:
• Strong understanding of wetland management, climate change, and natural resource management frameworks.
• Ability to work in multi-socio-cultural, socio-economic, and socio-political environments.
• Leadership qualities with the ability to manage a project team inclusively and professionally.
Personal Traits:
• Physically fit and willing to travel extensively.
• Proactive and capable of handling uncertainties.
• Problem-solving and adaptability in dynamic field conditions.
• Able to work with diverse stakeholders in collaborative networks.
• Driven to create transformative changes for ecological, economic, and social, well-being.
Benefits:
• Gross Salary: ₹60,000 – ₹65,000 per month (depending on qualifications and experience).
• Provident Fund (PF): Applicable after completing the training and probationary period.
• Medical Insurance (Mediclaim): Eligibility begins after completing one year with the organization.
• Benefits are subject to regular performance appraisals and adherence to organizational policies.
Contract Period:
• Initially for one year, extendable based on performance.
