Semi-conductor manufacturing cost engineer

The candidate will be responsible for costing estimating, benchmarking and ‘should’ cost build up for new parts and existing parts thus meeting customer (internal/external) needs for all sites, enabling rapid turnaround with accuracy thus leading to business award. In addition, the candidate will be required to have supplier cost breakdown interpretation skillset, problem solving, project management and communication skills to perform continuous proactive cost reduction projects or assessment activities. The candidate will be responsible for continuously familiarizing on current supply base manufacturing process, business operation and their capabilities to ensure they meet client cost targets. Project management duties are a must and include working with cross-functional teams consisting of account operations, account executives, supply chain management, manufacturing, and suppliers to provide feedback and requirements during new costing estimating and ‘should’ cost build up for new and existing parts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position requires a medium/high skilled individual with knowledge in mechanical parts for semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment or components. Specific technical knowledge required in the following areas: Displays expertise in manufacturing processes for mechanical components such as structural frame, sheet metals, precise machined parts, etc. related to cost estimating and ‘should’ cost build up. Conduct cost estimates based on drawings for new parts. Work closely with suppliers during the quoting process to prioritize quotes. Ensures suppliers can meet established cost targets. Create/manage/monitor and report using a database with all costs (Library of costs). Work closely with supply chain management team in the ‘e-hub’ initiative. Drive cost reduction initiatives with suppliers. Interface with internal customers on part cost discussions. Interface with external customers on part cost discussions, as needed. Provide technical and business recommendations to suppliers to achieve established cost targets. Provide cost estimating or ‘should’ cost build up training to quote team members. Will require travel to suppliers for on-site process familiarizing and meetings. (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): Engineering background preferred. Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems and tools Experience or knowledge of standard fabrication practices of structural frame, sheet metal fabrication, precision machining process. Expertise on mechanical drawing interpretation using ASME Y14.5 (Dimensioning Tolerance) Hands on experience on sheet metal and machining fabrication preferred. Strong passion and an aptitude for problem solving in a collaborative team environment is required. Ability for good written and verbal communication of technical content in English is required. Project management skills is required. Hands on knowledge of problem-solving methodologies (8 D, 5 why’s, DOE etc.) experience is required. Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP is desired. Working knowledge of Microsoft Software – Excel, Word, and Power Point is required. Familiarity with CAD solutions such as Solid Works and EPDM Educational/Certification Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial engineering 8 to 10+ years of sheet metal and machining fabrication experience. Related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor fabrication equipment or related industry. Certified in estimating or related areas (e.g., ASPE, AACE) is preferred.
