Job Title: Demand Planning Consultant
Experience Required: Minimum 6 years
Location: Mumbai , Pune , Chandigarh
Key Responsibilities
1. Demand Planning and Forecasting :
 Develop and refine short-term and long-term demand forecasts using advanced statistical
methods and machine learning algorithms, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
 Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and seasonality to predict future demand
accurately.
 Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to incorporate promotional
activities, product launches, and market shifts into demand forecasts.
 Monitor and adjust forecasts based on real-time data and market intelligence to maintain
accuracy and reliability.
2. Revenue and Margin Optimization :
 Identify demand patterns and pricing strategies that maximize revenue and profitability
while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
 Recommend product mix strategies and stock allocation to align with margin goals and
reduce excess inventory or stockouts.
 Collaborate with pricing teams to suggest price adjustments based on demand elasticity,
competitor benchmarking, and revenue targets.
 Optimize inventory replenishment cycles to minimize carrying costs and improve cash
flow while meeting customer demand.
3. Scenario Planning and Sensitivity Analysis:
 Conduct what-if analyses to evaluate the impact of different demand scenarios on
revenue, margins, and operational costs.
 Model the effects of external factors such as market conditions, supply chain disruptions,
and pricing changes on demand.
 Support strategic decision-making by simulating outcomes of various promotional,
pricing, or operational initiatives.
4. Insights and Actionable Recommendations:
 Analyze demand data to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable
insights to improve key business KPIs.
 Develop and present recommendations to optimize product availability, reduce lost sales,
and enhance customer satisfaction.
 Identify underperforming SKUs or regions and recommend corrective actions to improve
overall profitability.
5. Collaboration and Alignment Across Teams:
 Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure demand forecasts are integrated into
production and procurement plans.
 Partner with finance teams to align demand planning with revenue and margin forecasts.
 Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns
and promotional activities on demand.
 Act as a bridge between analytics and operations teams, ensuring data-driven insights are
actionable and impactful.
6. Reporting and Performance Tracking:
 Create and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI to track demand planning
performance against key KPIs such as forecast accuracy, revenue growth, margin
improvement, and inventory turnover.
 Regularly communicate demand planning updates and insights to senior leadership,
providing visibility into risks and opportunities.
 Conduct post-mortem analyses on forecast accuracy and demand planning strategies to
identify areas for improvement.
7. Process Improvement and Innovation:
 Continuously evaluate and enhance demand planning tools, processes, and methodologies
to improve efficiency and accuracy.
 Implement best practices and emerging technologies in demand forecasting and analytics
to stay ahead of industry trends.
 Advocate for a data-driven approach within the organization, promoting the adoption of
analytics in demand planning and related functions.
Qualifications and Skills
Must-Have:
 Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Data Science, Business
Analytics, or related fields. Advanced degrees are a plus.
 Experience: Minimum of 6 years in demand planning, supply chain analytics, or related
roles, preferably in retail or e Commerce.
 Technical Proficiency :
o Strong expertise in SQL for data extraction and analysis.
o Proficiency in Python for building models and conducting advanced analytics.
o Hands-on experience with Power BI for creating dashboards and visualizations.
 Communication Skills:
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate
data into actionable business recommendations.
o Proven ability to present insights and influence decision-making across diverse
audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
 Experience with advanced demand planning tools or software (e.g., SAP IBP, Kinaxis,
Anaplan).
 Knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques for demand forecasting.
 Familiarity with inventory optimization, sales and operations planning (S&OP), or
replenishment strategies.
