LIGHTS also publishes a popular journal, Geography and You, with a large readership.

Project Description

The company is currently undertaking a 300-page historical book project and is recruiting a Research Fellow with a PhD in Modern History, Social Geography or Sociology (submitting or submitted).

Role Description

As the Senior Researcher at LIGHTS, your role is pivotal. You will be responsible for conducting research, writing chapters for the book, and accessing libraries and institutes for archival data. Your expertise in analyzing narratives and using oral history to augment your arguments will be crucial. You will also collaborate with other team members, contributing significantly to the book's original attempt at encapsulating India's history in a hitherto unexplored area.

This is an on-site role based in New Delhi.

Qualifications

A PhD (submitting or submitted) in Modern History, Social Geography or Sociology is a must.

You will need:

  • Vital research and analytical skills
  • Excellent writing skills in English
  • Knowledge of diverse academic fields
  • Ability to work independently / collaborate with a team
  • Experience in publishing

Salary Range

INR 40,000 (submitting PhD) to INR 50,000 (PhD submitted)
