Job Summary
Mayatax, in partnership with Hirestaff.ai, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our Property Accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the accounting operations for a portfolio of US real estate properties. Your expertise in US GAAP and property accounting principles will be crucial in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for various property-related transactions, including rent, expenses, debt service, and capital expenditures.
Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
Analyze and investigate variances from budget and prior-year performance.
Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for all accounting entries.
Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Research and interpret accounting pronouncements and industry best practices.
Assist with audits and tax filings.
Maintain strong working relationships with property managers, leasing teams, and other internal stakeholders.
Ad hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
2 years of experience in property accounting, with a strong understanding of US GAAP.
Experience with accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, or Timberline preferred.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with US real estate accounting standards.
Experience with property management software.
ACCA/CA/CPA or other relevant professional certification.
