Political Researcher and Data Analyst

About the Role:

As a Political Researcher and Data Analyst , you will play a key role in shaping the political strategy and public communications for the Chief Minister’s office by providing insights based on data analysis and research. You will gather and analyze data on voter sentiment, public issues, and political trends. Your insights will directly inform decisions and enhance the CM’s outreach, allowing us to better address the needs and concerns of the public. Proficiency in both Kannada and English is essential, as you’ll work with data sources and public opinion in both languages.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze large sets of data from social media, news sources, surveys, and polls to gauge public sentiment and emerging trends.
  • Voter Behavior Analysis: Track and analyze voter demographics, behaviors, and shifts in public opinion to understand constituency needs and concerns.
  • Issue Tracking: Identify and monitor trending issues or topics that may impact the CM’s public perception, collaborating with the team to adjust strategies as needed.
  • Political Intelligence Reports: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports summarizing public opinion, opposition activities, and emerging challenges, and present actionable insights to the team.
  • Survey Design and Execution: Design and execute surveys to gather insights on policy impacts and public perception, ensuring data quality and relevance.
  • Content Support: Work with the Writer and Communications Expert to craft data-backed content for speeches, social media posts, and public statements.
  • Real-Time Data Monitoring: Provide real-time analysis and quick reports during events, public appearances, and major political activities.

 

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Political Science, Data Science, Statistics, Sociology, or related fields.
  • Experience: 2+ years in political research, data analysis, or a similar role, with a demonstrated understanding of the political landscape.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in Kannada and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SPSS, R, or Python. Experience with digital listening tools and social media analytics is preferred.
  • Political Acumen: Strong understanding of regional and national politics, as well as the local cultural and social context of Karnataka.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex data and present findings in clear, actionable formats to aid decision-making.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with sentiment analysis tools, polling software, and public opinion tracking.
  • Knowledge of Karnataka’s political landscape and key demographic groups.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and provide real-time insights during events.
