Solution Architect for Tooling Role DescriptionRole Description:The Solution Architect for Tooling will support the Chief Tooling Architect in establishing a comprehensive tooling framework for the automotive stack. This framework will manage a design-time interface description language (IDL) and the deployment configuration of the stack, following an everything-as-code approach. The goal is to organize fragmented, human-readable text files containing the IDL and deployment information, and to ensure the composition and validation of these fragments into the stack's startup configuration/manifests. The role involves generating code based on the IDL to enhance customer experience during application development, and implementing a strategy for integrity verification to boost startup time by pre-verifying information through tooling. The tooling must integrate seamlessly into the DevOps pipeline of our customers, including third-party package managers and build system setups.Responsibilities:IDL and Data Model Design:-Support the Chief Tooling Architect in designing and developing of simplified IDLs inspired by Franca IDL, ROS2 IDL, moving towards more lightweight and scalable approach.-Architect robust data models using Rust, focusing on performance optimization and type safety.-Ensure the IDL and data models integrate seamlessly with open-source IDEs(Integrated Development Environment) and various automotive middleware standards.Tooling Framework Development:- Support the Chief Tooling Architect in designing and implementing the tooling framework.- Manage and organize the design-time interface description language (IDL) and deployment configuration.- Ensure the tooling pipeline follows an everything-as-code approach.Composition and Validation:- Develop mechanisms for the composition and validation of IDL and deployment fragments into the stack's startup configuration/manifests.- Implement tools for code generation based on the IDL to improve customer experience during application development.Integrity Verification:- Develop a strategy for integrity verification to boost startup time at the target by pre-verifying information through tooling.DevOps Integration:- Ensure the tooling integrates seamlessly into the customers' DevOps pipeline.- Support integration with third-party package managers and build system setups.Open-Source and Forum Participation:-Actively engage in open-source communities such as Eclipse, GitHub, and Stack Overflow, contributing to projects, sharing insights, and collaborating with global developers.-Lead discussions on open-source standards and best practices in automotive middleware development.Collaboration and Communication:- Work closely with the Chief Tooling Architect to ensure alignment of tooling activities with overall project goals.- Communicate tooling progress, results, and issues to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to address and resolve tooling-related challenges.Qualifications:Experience:- 10+ years of relevant experience in software architecture, design, and tooling development, with a focus on automotive middleware, IDLs, and data modeling, or a combination of these areas.- Extensive experience in tooling development and automation.- Proven track record in setting up and managing tooling frameworks for complex systems.- Experience with IDL management and deployment configurations.Skills:- Strong understanding of the everything-as-code approach.- Proficiency in programming languages such as Core Java, Rust, or C++.- Knowledge of the AUTOSAR adaptive meta model is highly beneficial.- Knowledge of open-source ecosystems, with a strong track record of contributing to projects in GitHub, Eclipse, and Stack Overflow.- Experience with DevOps practices and tools.- Ability to define and implement tooling strategies and plans.- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.Education:- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a top-tier institution (such as IITs(Indian Institute of Technology), NITs(National Institute of Technology ), BITS(Birla Institute of Technology and Science) preferred or related)- Certifications in relevant tooling and automation methodologies are a plus.- Strong preference for candidates with published technical papers or active participation in open-source projects.Personal Attributes:- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and compliance.- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
