About the Role - We are looking for a Sourcing Engineer with expertise in mechanical components, mechanical assembly, and testing. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of local market suppliers in India and experience in sourcing for manufacturing facilities. This role requires strong negotiation skills, vendor management experience, and the ability to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness in procurement.
Responsibilities
- Source, identify and evaluate suppliers for mechanical parts, assemblies, and testing equipment.
- Work closely with the engineering and manufacturing teams to understand technical requirements.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local and global suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
- As a project owner, develop timeline, keep track of activities and progress, and provide update to customers on a weekly basis.
- Conduct supplier audits and performance assessments to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Analyze market trends and sourcing opportunities in India to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Ensure timely procurement of components while maintaining cost, quality, and lead-time targets.
- Support new product development sourcing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with quality teams to resolve supplier-related issues and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in sourcing mechanical components and assemblies, preferably for manufacturing in India.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, testing, and quality requirements.
- Proven experience in sourcing, supplier management, cost negotiation, and contract execution.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical component suppliers in India, including their capabilities and market positioning.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and sourcing tools.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of import/export regulations and supply chain management best practices.
