The Role
Electrical Engineer (Modular Construction)
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will be pivotal in driving the development and implementation of innovative modular construction systems for Electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Electrical engineering principles, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of construction technology.
Key Responsibilities for Electrical Engineer
As an Electrical Engineer in a modular construction firm, you will play a crucial role in delivering numerous low-rise building projects. Your responsibilities will include:
Pre - Construction Phase:
Electrical Calculations: Conduct comprehensive electrical calculations to ensure system reliability and compliance with applicable standards.
Design Documentation: Prepare basic design reports and ensure they are signed off by a licensed electrical engineer.
Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Create detailed BOQs for electrical construction job work descriptions, adhering to the latest Delhi Schedule of Rates. This includes a breakdown of materials, machinery, tools, and manpower required for project job work execution.
Power Distribution Systems: Perform calculations and design for power distribution systems, including MCBs, RCCBs, wiring schemes, earthing solutions, UPS (inverters), lighting systems, solar installations, and busbar systems.
Revit Model: Create Project specific Revit Electrical Model of LOD 500 & Generate Good for Construction (GFC) drawings to facilitate the construction process.
Collaboration: Work closely with architects, civil engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure integrated design solutions.
Site Assessments: Conduct site surveys to evaluate existing conditions and inform design decisions.
Automation Development: After establishing robust systems, focus on developing automated Design Basis Reports (DBR), selecting electrical equipment, and creating project-specific Level of Development (LOD) 500 Revit models.
Wire Harness Development: Gradually shift focus towards the design and development of wire harnesses for various projects.
Software Utilization: Leverage engineering software such as ETAP, DIALux, Revit MEP, and AutoCAD Electrical to enhance design efficiency and minimize manual work across multiple projects.
Construction Phase:
Construction Document Review:
Review construction drawings to ensure compliance with design intent and modular construction principles.
Identify and resolve any discrepancies or conflicts between design documents and construction requirements.
Site Visits and Inspections:
Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and address any MEP-related issues.
Inspect installation of modular components and systems to ensure quality and adherence to design specifications.
Field Support:
Provide technical support to construction teams, including troubleshooting, problem-solving, and answering questions.
Assist in resolving construction-related issues and coordinating with subcontractors.
Post-Construction Phase:
As-Built Documentation:
Update BIM models and drawings to reflect as-built conditions.
Prepare as-built documentation, including record drawings and system manuals.
Commissioning and Testing:
Participate in commissioning and testing activities to verify the performance of MEP systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues identified during commissioning.
Warranty and Maintenance:
Develop maintenance procedures and schedules for modular components and systems.
Skills Required To succeed in this role, candidates should possess the following skills:
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices related to modular construction.
Design Proficiency: Experience in drafting electrical schematics and layouts using AutoCAD and Revit MEP software.
Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical skills for troubleshooting electrical issues and optimizing designs.
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgets.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred for more advanced roles.
Experience: Relevant experience in electrical engineering within the construction industry is essential. Familiarity with low-rise building projects is highly desirable.
Certifications: Professional certifications such as a licensed electrical engineer or equivalent qualifications are preferred.
Software Experience: Proficiency in engineering software tools such as ETAP, DIALux, Revit MEP, and AutoCAD Electrical is crucial for this role.
Additional Skills:
Lean Construction Principles: Knowledge of lean principles can help optimize modular construction processes and minimize waste.
Manufacturing Processes: Familiarity with common manufacturing techniques used in modular construction can aid in Modular MEP System & BIM modelling accuracy.
Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Understanding QA/QC procedures for modular construction helps ensure components meet specifications.
Digital Fabrication: Knowledge of digital fabrication tools and processes used in modular construction can be beneficial.
Knowledge of logistics and sequencing for modular construction projects: Understanding the logistical considerations of transporting and assembling modules is essential for BIM modelling to reflect real-world constraints.

1. Technical Skills (45 Points)
Electrical Calculations: Ability to perform accurate electrical calculations (10 points).
Design Proficiency: Experience in creating electrical schematics and layouts using AutoCAD and Revit MEP (10 points).
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with engineering software such as ETAP, DIALux, and AutoCAD Electrical (10 points).
