The Role
As the Engineering Lead, you will spearhead the pursuit of PEB-based EPC tenders that offer strategic advantages. You will lead the development of innovative construction methods and oversee the creation of comprehensive engineering deliverables. Your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring all projects adhere to industrialized construction principles, optimizing efficiency and quality across structural, non-structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines for the structures we build.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Tender Selection:
Partner with Sales and Marketing: Collaborate with these departments to identify projects that align with both strategic goals and Prefab suitability.
Competitive Advantage Analysis: Go beyond just cost. Analyze tenders for factors like faster time-to-market, improved quality control, and reduced environmental impact – key Prefab benefits.
Identify and pursue key PEB-based EPC tenders that align with the firm's strategic goals.
Assess tenders for potential benefits and competitive advantages.
Develop a Prefab Expertise Database: Create an internal database capturing past project successes and challenges. This informs future tender selection and helps refine construction methodologies to address recurring issues.
Embrace Innovation Workshops: Conduct regular brainstorming sessions where the team explores and evaluates new technologies and construction methods for Prefab projects.
Focus on Innovation & Expertise: Prioritize tenders that allow the team to showcase their innovative construction methods. Encourage participation in industry research and development initiatives to stay ahead of the curve.
Design and Engineering Prefab-Specific Design Principles: Integrate modularity, pre-fabrication potentials, and efficient on-site assembly.
Standards Compliance: Adhere to Indian Standards (IS) and ISO codes.
Structural Review: Structural engineering documents undergo rigorous vetting by IITM.
Drawing Standards: Construction drawings adhere to ISO 19650, and manufacturing drawings follow ASME standards.
Material Selection: All building materials meet industry standards.
Quality Assurance: Establish stringent quality control procedures.
Lean & JIT Integration: Incorporate Lean Construction and JIT principles.
Standardization and Prefab Best Practices: Encourage standardized Prefab elements and methods, and automate tasks.
Cross-Training and Collaborative Problem-Solving: Promote cross-training and collaborative problem-solving.
Integrated Planning & Risk Management: Work closely with stakeholders and establish a collaborative risk management plan.
Engineering Deliverables for Modular ConstructionProject Planning and Design Project Overview: Name, description, client details, schedule with key milestones.
Design Documents:GA Drawings: Overall layout, dimensions, connections, building services locations.
Shop Drawings: Detailed module drawings for manufacturing (DFMA).
Structural Calculations: Analysis and calculations to meet building codes.
MEP Drawings: Detailed drawings for mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems.
Material Specifications:BOM: Comprehensive list of materials with quantities, specifications, standards.
MSDS: Safety information for all materials.
Quality Control:ITP: Inspection and testing procedures.
NCR Process: Non-conformance reporting and resolution.
Additional: Sustainability report, logistics plan (optional).
Project Management Pre-Construction:Scope Definition: Collaborate with the project manager and client to define the project scope, including functionalities, specifications, and performance requirements.
Design Management: Lead the engineering team in developing designs that meet project requirements, adhere to building codes and standards, and optimize for efficient manufacturing and on-site assembly.
COBie Implementation: Master the COBie standard for efficient data exchange.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks.
Material Selection and Procurement: Select cost-effective materials.
Design Review and Approval: Facilitate design reviews and obtain necessary approvals.
Schedule Development: Contribute to the development of a realistic project schedule.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Implement systems to collect and analyze project data.
Break Down Silos: Foster a collaborative environment across departments.
Construction:Engineering Support: Provide ongoing support to the manufacturing team.
Quality Control: Ensure thorough reviews and approvals of shop drawings and manufacturing processes.

Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering.
Extensive experience in modular construction and offsite fabrication.
Proficiency in relevant software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
In-depth knowledge of building codes and standards.
Proficiency in DFMA and PFEMA principles.
Familiarity with project management methodologies.
Strong attention to detail and quality control.
Understanding of basic electrical and plumbing design principles.
Ability to research and identify suitable building materials.
Familiarity with construction material procurement processes.
