Statiq was named as the top 3 most promising start-ups by NASSCOM in the year 2020, it was the same year we got selected for Y Combinator, a Silicon Valley based accelerator program.
About the Role:
The Data Protection Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring Statiq’s compliance with data protection laws and safeguarding sensitive information across internal and client projects. This role involves developing and implementing data protection frameworks, conducting risk assessments, and driving privacy-first practices across teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Policy Development and Compliance :
- Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with applicable laws and regulations.
- Lead the implementation of ISO27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 standards.
Risk Assessment and Audits :
- Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify and mitigate data privacy risks.
- Implement strategies to proactively address vulnerabilities.
Stakeholder Communication :
- Serve as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide timely guidance and updates on compliance requirements.
Privacy by Design :
- Support teams in integrating privacy by design and default principles into product development and operational processes.
- Oversee privacy measures in maintenance and support for White label projects.
Training and Awareness :
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees on data protection policies and practices.
- Promote a culture of data privacy and security across the organization.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- 4-7 years of experience in data protection, information security, or compliance roles.
- Bachelor's degree in information security, Computer Science, or a related field (relevant certifications like CIPP, CIPT, or CISSP are a plus).
- Proven track record of implementing frameworks such as ISO27001 and SOC 2 Type 2.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with privacy by design principles and related technologies.
Knowledge Required :
- In-depth understanding of global data protection regulations, including GDPR and CCPA.
- Expertise in conducting audits, risk assessments, and developing mitigation plans.
- Proficiency in implementing privacy-first strategies in product and process design.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating data privacy risks and solutions.
