Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer with 5+ years of expertise to provide technical support and ensure the smooth operation of enterprise-level applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills, a deep understanding of application environments, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Maintenance and Support:
- Monitor, maintain, and support enterprise applications to ensure high availability and performance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve application-related incidents and issues.
- Perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
- Incident and Problem Management:
- Respond promptly to application incidents and service requests in line with SLAs.
- Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate teams while maintaining ownership of communication.
- Document incidents, solutions, and updates in the ticketing system.
- Environment Management:
- Manage application environments, including production, testing, and staging.
- Deploy updates, patches, and enhancements to applications as needed.
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless deployments.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
- Use monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics, or New Relic) to track application performance.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and optimize resource usage.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement to enhance user experience.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and end-users.
- Communicate complex technical issues in a user-friendly manner to non-technical stakeholders.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of application processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
- Generate regular reports on application performance, incidents, and resolutions.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and audit requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in application support or a similar role.
- Proven experience supporting enterprise-level applications.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in application monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Splunk, Dynatrace, or Nagios).
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and databases (SQL, Oracle).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or Bash) for automation.
- Experience with ITIL processes for incident and problem management.
- Knowledge of APIs, web services, and middleware (e.g., REST, SOAP).
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and processes (e.g., Jenkins, Kubernetes, or Docker).
- ITIL Foundation Certification or equivalent.
