Agro-Commodity Analyst (Buy-Side Fund)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Agro-Commodity Analyst to join our buy-side fund. This is a crucial role where you will perform in-depth fundamental analysis on various agricultural commodities to generate investment theses and support our portfolio management decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of both fundamental and technical analysis, with a proven ability to translate market insights into actionable investment strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Research & Analysis:
Conduct comprehensive fundamental research on a wide range of agricultural commodities, including grains, oilseeds, softs, and livestock.
Analyze global supply-and-demand dynamics, weather patterns, trade flows, and government policies.
Develop and maintain proprietary models for supply-demand balances, price forecasting, and market equilibrium.
Synthesize complex data from multiple sources to identify market trends, risks, and opportunities.
Strategy & Recommendations:
Generate and present clear, well-supported investment recommendations to portfolio managers and the investment committee.
Collaborate with the trading desk to develop and execute trading strategies based on your research and market outlook.
Provide real-time market commentary and updates on key events affecting commodity prices.
Due Diligence & Engagement:
Conduct due diligence on potential investments, including on-the-ground field surveys and interviews with industry participants.
Build and maintain a network of industry contacts, including farmers, traders, and analysts.
Attend industry conferences and events to stay current with market developments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Agriculture, or a related quantitative field. A Master's or CFA designation is a plus.
Proven experience as a commodity analyst, preferably in a buy-side or similar investment role.
Deep knowledge of both fundamental and technical analysis within the agricultural commodity space.
Exceptional quantitative, financial modeling, and data analysis skills. Proficiency with tools like Python, R, or Excel is highly desirable.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information concisely.
High level of intellectual curiosity, with a proactive and independent work ethic.
