Job Title: Database System Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database System Specialist to join our team.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Install, upgrade and migrate SQL Servers for optimal performance and scalability.
    • Apply patches or service packs for SQL Server to ensure the database remains secure and up-to-date.
    • Configure High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions to minimize downtime and data loss.
    • Set up automated alerts to notify the team of any issues, ensuring prompt response and resolution.
    • Troubleshoot locking issues, including deadlocks, blocking, lock timeouts and resolve them efficiently.
    • Participate in bridge calls to troubleshoot and fix critical incidents.
    • Have hands-on experience with Always On and DB Mirroring for seamless database operations.
    • Execute changes to db schema and maintain a controlled development environment.
    • Collaborate with application developers to test, configure, and optimize servers based on application demands.
    • Deploy database objects to Integration, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
    • Provide daily support for high OLTP HA of SQL Server databases, identifying root causes of production problems and working with developers to resolve such problems.
    • Perform performance tuning like creating missing indexes to improve database efficiency.
    • Be willing to work in 24X7 projects (Shifts) as needed.
    • Have experience in scripting using Perl, PowerShell and experience in AWS/Azure is a plus.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in database administration.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server and its configurations.
  • Experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
  • Proficient in scripting languages like Perl and PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms like AWS/Azure.
  • Certifications like SQL Server certifications are a plus.
