Job OverviewA Senior Database Administrator (Big Data) is responsible for planning and managing the administration of technology in a specific area. This role involves working with team members to ensure that technology supports enterprise systems effectively.This position requires a strong academic background, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or a relevant field. Additionally, at least 6 years of experience in a related field are necessary, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to implement new technologies effectively. They should also demonstrate fluency in English and have experience with Relational or NoSQL database technologies.Key Responsibilities
  • Analyzing existing database systems and recommending improvements
  • Collaborating with IT Manager to establish database security structures and compliance standards
  • Managing Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters for high availability and performance
  • Administering Apache Kafka clusters, including topic management, performance tuning, and security
  • Performing database administration for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning
  • Developing automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible for deployment, monitoring, and configuration management
  • Optimizing data pipelines and ensuring data integrity across platforms
  • Implementing security best practices across all data platforms
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues across the data stack
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or a relevant field
  • At least 6 years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience with Relational or NoSQL database technologies
