Job Title: Compliance Specialist

Job Summary:

\

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for providing essential administrative support to the Compliance Function, ensuring the effective coordination, maintenance, and documentation of compliance activities across the institution.

\

Key Responsibilities:

  • \
  • Assist the Head of Compliance in the day-to-day management of compliance obligations (OfS, UK GDPR etc.).\
  • Maintain compliance trackers and logs (e.g., risk register, GDPR incident log, training completion log, policy review calendar).\
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submission of statutory returns or compliance actions.\
  • Support handling of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) requests.\
  • Ensure all records of consent, privacy notices, and data processing agreements are properly archived and accessible.\
  • Collate documentation and evidence for internal and external audits or inspections (e.g., OfS).\
  • Generate monthly and quarterly compliance status reports and dashboards for internal use.\
  • Provide administrative support for scheduling and tracking training, webinars, and briefings.\
  • Coordinate with departments such as IT, Registry, HR, Academic Governance, and Marketing to gather compliance inputs.\
  • Work with the IT team to support the Head of Compliance in tracking cybersecurity compliance measures, including breach logs, staff awareness training, and incident escalation protocols.\
  • Support communication of new policies, updates, or alerts across departments.\
  • Monitor and report on completion rates of mandatory compliance training.\
  • Awareness of Office for Students (OfS) regulatory framework and exposure to compliance tools (e.g., OneTrust, SharePoint, Excel logs).\
  • Familiarity with data protection principles under UK GDPR and understanding of cybersecurity risks and controls.\
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and record-keeping.\
  • Strong written and verbal communication.\
